Rebecca L. Harris leads the Social media team at General Motors Corporate Communications. Her team is responsible for the GM Corporate Facebook and Twitter engagement, video strategy, brand social media strategy and blogger outreach.

Previous to this, Rebecca led the Communications Research and Measurement Strategy team. This team turned data into information and provided strategic counsel to stakeholders, executed surveys and analyzed media.

During her 23-year career at GM, Rebecca has held many different leadership positions. She’s led media integration efforts during major Communications events such as global auto shows, GM’s Centennial in 2008, and numerous product showcase activities. The value she brings focuses on integrating and extending outreach and coverage, specifically in the non-traditional automotive media space.

Working as a “match-maker,” Rebecca marries outreach and coverage in this space. She continually draws on her experiences to provide insight and drive improvement into processes, including bringing new and improved tools and integration to better meet the strategic needs of the organization.

Rebecca’s audience familiarity goes far beyond media. She has also worked in the areas of corporate reputation; employee and dealer communications; service and parts; divisional/brand/marketing; and manufacturing at GM.

Similar to Rebecca’s experience at GM, her academic credentials are many and far reaching. In 1989, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in communication from Saginaw Valley State University. Rebecca earned a Masters degree in business with an organizational communication concentration from Central Michigan University in 1992. While working full-time, she completed her PhD in organizational communications from Wayne State University in 2002.

C.C. Chapman didn’t write this “About C.C. Chapman” page. An advocate did, and he wouldn’t accept a dime for the privilege.

This makes the most perfect kind of sense — after all, C.C. Chapman has spent the past five years helping people and brands convert passive consumers into passionate, invested advocates. He’s built meaningful relationships between a Who’s Who of A-list companies and their markets. He’s helped these companies sell more things.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more multi-faceted or enthusiastic creative/strategic partner in the marketing and content creation fields. This greatly hails from C.C.’s unstoppable combination of marketing experience and savvy (which a great many professionals claim to have), and incalculably valuable “on the ground” knowledge and insight as an influential content creator himself (which a great many professionals do not).

He authoritatively speaks your language. He speaks your CMO’s language. Most important, he’s fluent in your market’s language. It’s a killer double-chocolate-and-peanut-butter combination. Contact C.C. to learn how he can help your organization achieve its business goals.

There’s even more to know about C.C. Chapman, if you want to read it — and you should. C.C.’s skills are an embarrassment of riches.

Speaker:

C.C. has years of professional speaking experience, nearly all of it presented to companies, marketers and content creators. He often speaks about building passionate consumer communities, and the strategic value of content-based marketing.

Author:

C.C. is the co-author (with Ann Handley) of the best seller Content Rules, a book that showcases the value of “organizations as publishers.” Content Rules clearly explains how companies can create remarkable blogs, podcasts, webinars, ebooks, and more — content that converts online audiences into customer evangelists. It was published in December 2010 by Wiley.

Entrepreneur:

In 2007, C.C. co-founded The Advance Guard, a marketing agency. After two stellar years, the company was acquired by Campfire. Now a freelance consultant looking for the next great challenge, C.C. understands the entrepreneurial spirit, and the “in the trenches” economic and organizational challenges companies face every day. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for both Wediko and Know My World.

C.C. works and plays in several social networks. He’s most active in these communities:

TWEEKSTOCK HIGH’S PERFECT ATTENDANCE

By: Melissa Jackson

Crowds of entrepreneurs, bloggers, and those seeking to up their Internet-savvy flocked to the Best Western Plus Brant Park Inn and Conference Centre in Brantford on Tuesday to head back to school Tweetstock High style and Atomic Spark was there to capture all the action. The sold out social media conference aimed at demystifying the ins and outs of Internet culture staples, such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, was ready to help new users and pros alike get the most out of the marketing shift that has left traditional sales tactics out-of-date and a waste of valuable funds.

Scott Stratten, author of The Book of Business Awesome, opened up the conference alongside Brantford’s favorite trouble maker Kevin Magee, and online diva extraordinaire Stacy Farrant. Reviewing what it takes to make a brand awesome Stratten roused the opening attendees still taking in their first coffee of the day and sent the attendees off to find the breakout sessions that called to them. From Facebook 101 to advanced courses on topics like Managing Conflict and Social SEO, as well as cozy VIP sessions with the keynote speakers, the feeling that anyone could learn to work with social media and influence its brand impact was in the air.

Learning how to create buzz online, get sponsorships, host tweetups, turn your audience in your sales force, tune in on the real time world of modern marketing, understand the new sales cycle and how to position your brand to stand out in the marketplace were just some of the topics covered, keeping tablet, smartphone, and laptop toting attendees tweeting out a barrage of tips from the day.

Catherine Fass, Social Media Manager for NHLPA: “What you say about your biz is a claim, what ppl say about your biz is a fact.”

Mark Hirte, Employee of Advanced Office Solutions: “Having a paid event rather than a free event will drive significantly higher attendance.”

Kim Hartley, Editorial Assistant at the Brantford Expositor: “Awesome employees are not overhead.”

Tweetstock, as a conference of social media strategy, started everyone on the path to get a handle on the magnitude of awesome needed to stand out in today’s marketplace, whether as a solo job hunter trying to sell oneself on LinkedIn, a business owner looking to increase sales through Google AdWords or as a CEO wondering why their employees weren’t up to task of keeping customers happy online.

In some following posts, Atomic Spark will take a look at a few of the breakout sessions (How to sell out your Event with Social Media, Not for Profit 2.0, Everything You Wanted to Know About Google But Were Too Afraid to Ask) and share the wisdom of the opening and closing keynote speakers -

Scott Stratten, author of The Book of Business Awesome and John Morgan, author of Brand Against the Machine, Amazon’s top-rated marketing and sales book.

Melissa Jackson is a project assistant extraordinaire at Atomic Spark. A master of multi-tasking and managing miscellany requests she keeps everyone on track while blogging, organizing, and whipping up nifty graphics.

Finding the right mix of online tools and in person networking is the formula that brings these social media based events to life.

You can usually find Lisa tweeting, pinning, updating her facebook, creating content for The Sign Depot or writing one of the many blogs that can be found on about.me/LisaMcDonald . In 2010 she was quoted in Scott Stratten’s book Unmarketing about the MeFest event, and was later listed as one of Canada’s 100 Most Digitally Connected Women. It’s a title she is proud of but would much rather refer herself as everyone’s cheerleader.

In a very short time, Tim recognized that sending information via social media platforms was only a small part of social media. The true benefit of building relationships, collaborations and partnerships is held within receiving more than sending, listening more than talking. He has turned a passing interest of social media into a passion for how help others communicate effectively using the platforms.
